The project – Every Patagonia store around the world has their own identity. This helps the stores establish a local connection with their neighbourhood and facilitate sports activities as well as local activism campaigns.
Munich is surrounded by nature and has a very active outdoor community. The concept behind our logo was to embrace our natural diversity – its fauna and flora, mountain ranges close-by and our river Isar which runs through the heart of the city. Plus one of Munich’s most iconic sports - surfing on the Eisbachwelle. The kingfisher is an endangered species in Bavaria and a nod to Patagonia’s environmental activism.
The logo was created in partnership with illustrator Caro Soncini.
In addition to the creation of the logo, we also hand-lettered and -illustrated a series of chalkboards, a surfboard and window panels at the store which were all launched at a logo reveal party at the store.
